About Sensei

Master Mel Abraham is the Owner and Chief Instructor of the PUMA Karate and Pressure Point Defense Systems, Inc. He is a two-time inductee into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame and has over 30 years experience in the martial arts and currently holds the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt (Master Rank) in the art of RyuKyu Kempo, 2nd  Degree Black Belt in Ninpo Tai-Jitsu, 4th Degree Black Belt in Jujitsu, 1st  Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and 3rd Degree Black Belt in Pacific Unified Martial Arts. Additionally, he is the founder of The SAVE Foundation, a non profit charitable organization that provides and supports programs that battle against abuse and violence against women and children. “ This is my way to combine two passions and to give back to the society that gave so much to me, and hopefully make society a better place for all in the process!" says Abraham.

Abraham was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003 and again in 2004 as Master Instructor of the Year. Abraham was featured in the March 2002 issues of Black Belt Magazine as well as the April 2002 issue of Martial Arts Combat. He was also featured in an article in the August 2003 issue of Muscle & Fitness – Hers presenting various self defense techniques for women using pressure points. Additionally, Abraham lived in Japan training under Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura as well as appearing with the Grandmaster in a series of videos on Hanbo-Jitsu (short stick) distributed by Panther Productions. He is also featured in his newly released video “Pressure Point Basics” and the newly released “Masters in Action” video series by Dillman Karate International as well as his newest video “Don’t Be a Victim!”

In continuing the philosophy of sharing, Abraham has been teaching seminars throughout the United States and has been traveling the world not just to spread his knowledge, but also to add to it and bring it back too, so that his students may benefit from it.

Professionally, he is a successful entrepreneur and a highly sought after expert (CPA). Mel is a Master Results Coach and Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Strategies. He has addressed professional conferences on a local, state, and national level and has provided guidance regarding valuation, business, empowerment, awareness, health, well being, self protection and success issues around the country. He is a member of the esteemed National Speakers Association and the recipient of the Certified Speaking Professional designation (less than 10% the speakers who belong to the International Federation for Professional Speakers hold this professional designation). He is the creator of the much in demand presentation and program Bulletproof Boundaries TM– Strategies for an Unsafe World - an educational program meant to provide an intellectual understanding of living with confidence and security in an unsafe world through effective recognition of unsafe situations.
